Effects of Crime on Local Business Activity
The project examines how local crime affects business activity, with a particular focus on retail. Geographically detailed crime data are linked to administrative records on firms and their employees. By comparing similar firms in areas with different crime trends, the researchers analyse effects on turnover, profitability, survival, business entry and employee turnover.
