Sofia Giovannetti

Sofia Giovannetti is a PhD candidate in Economics at the Institute for International Economic Studies at Stockholm University. During the 2025–2026 academic year, she is a visiting PhD student at IFN.

Her research concerns firms and their role in the macroeconomy. In one project, she studies how firms’ investment decisions are affected when an increasing share of stock trading takes place through funds, and what this means for the broader economy. In another project, she studies how inequality in family wealth affects who becomes an entrepreneur, and how economic growth is affected when entrepreneurial selection is not based solely on individual ability.
